Payroll

Pay runs, pay stubs, and benefits inside People OS, with the permission model such data requires.

1 min read

Payroll lives inside People OS as a section rather than a separate module.

What it does

  • Pay runs: prepare, review, and record a payroll cycle.
  • Pay stubs: per-employee records, visible to the employee in My Space.
  • Benefits: enrollment and records that feed total rewards.

Permissions

Payroll is the most restricted area in the platform. Access requires an admin level on People OS; ordinary members and viewers cannot see compensation data even when they can see the directory. Employees always see their own pay stubs and nobody else's.

AI and payroll

Deliberately conservative. Cortex can answer analytical questions about cost and headcount where the asker has permission, but payroll verbs are high-risk and sit behind approval regardless of autonomy level. Most teams keep autonomy at level 0 or 1 here permanently, which is a reasonable, mature choice.

Warning: Before your first live pay run, verify the employee list, compensation records, and approval routing. Payroll errors are visible, personal, and slow to correct.
