01 / Who this is for
Brainis vs Greenhouse
You run Greenhouse today and are deciding whether Brainis replaces it, joins it, or isn’t for you. The honest answer is below — including the part where Greenhouse wins.
Greenhouse is the reference implementation of structured hiring. This page is about when hiring is the problem and when it is a symptom.
02Category difference
Greenhouse is an applicant tracking system. Brainis is a company system.
Greenhouse's job maps to Hiring AI inside Brainis. Greenhouse is built on a strong opinion — structured interviews, scorecards, and consistent evaluation — and that opinion is right. Brainis does not out-opinion it on hiring craft. What Brainis adds is the layer above: whether this role is the right next hire at all, what it costs against the other things that money could do, and a delivery loop that runs the hiring work under authority you set and verifies the output.
Greenhouse is a applicant tracking system. Greenhouse’s job maps to Hiring AI, inside the loop.
03When Greenhouse is enough
Stay on Greenhouse if this is you.
This section is not a set-up. If one of these describes your company, Greenhouse is the better buy and we would rather you knew that here.
Hiring quality is the problem you are actually solving
Structured interview kits, scorecards, and interviewer training are the difference between hiring well and hiring loudly. Greenhouse has spent a decade on exactly this and it shows.
You have a recruiting team with established process
If recruiters live in the ATS all day and the process works, changing it costs more than it returns. Greenhouse's reporting and integrations are built for exactly that team.
Compliance and consistency matter more than breadth
Consistent, auditable evaluation across a hiring panel is a real requirement in a lot of companies, and it is what Greenhouse optimises for.
You hire steadily and decide headcount elsewhere
If headcount planning is settled at the board or in a spreadsheet and the ATS just executes it, a system that models the headcount decision is solving a problem you have already solved.
04When you need the loop
What Brainis adds, and the mechanism that adds it.
Each of these names the part of the system doing the work — state, missions, Verify, autonomy — and links the page that proves it.
When the real question is whether to hire at all
An ATS starts once the role is approved. The Strategy Engine models the alternatives — hire, contract, automate, wait — against your live state before the requisition exists.
C-021See Strategy Engine →When hiring work should run itself under your authority
Sourcing, scheduling, and follow-up become missions with owners, budgets, and acceptance criteria, executed by agents inside the real ATS through governed tool calls.
C-029See Brainis MCP →When AI touches candidates and the stakes are real
Anything an agent sends or writes is checked independently against acceptance criteria before it counts as done, and the producer never grades its own work.
C-030See Verify →When you want the hire graded against what you predicted
The Decision Ledger keeps the prediction next to the outcome, so the next headcount call is made against evidence.

05Side by side
Grouped by what the loop actually does.
Verifiable capabilities only. The Greenhouse column describes what Greenhouse does; it never asserts a limitation we have not checked. Where Greenhouse is better, the row says so.
Understand
What the system knows about your company.
A single live model of the company — goals, customers, money, commitments
Greenhouse
Candidates, jobs, interviews, scorecards, and hiring reporting — the authoritative hiring record, and deliberately scoped to hiring.
Brainis
One live model, every fact carrying its source, its freshness, and a confidence score.

Structured hiring craft
Greenhouse
Interview kits, scorecards, structured evaluation, interviewer training, and hiring reporting. This is Greenhouse's discipline and it is better at it than we are.
Greenhouse is better here
Brainis
Hiring AI runs ATS, interviews, and offers as a real product that agents operate inside.

Decide
How the next move gets chosen.
Alternative futures modelled before a path is recommended
Greenhouse
Outside what an ATS is for — the requisition arrives already approved.
Brainis
The Strategy Engine models the options first; change a constraint and the recommendation changes.

Deliver
How the work actually gets done.
How an approved plan becomes work
Greenhouse
Recruiters and hiring managers drive the pipeline; automations handle notifications and stage moves.
Brainis
Approved strategy compiles into dependency-aware missions with owners, budgets, and acceptance criteria.

Where the AI does its work
Greenhouse
Greenhouse ships AI-assisted features for people working in the ATS; the recruiter still runs the process.
Brainis
Inside the real products — the CRM, the ATS, work management, campaigns — through governed MCP tool calls.

What an automation is allowed to touch
Greenhouse
Integrations and automations act on Greenhouse objects under the permissions granted to them.
Brainis
Authority contracts scope every act by action, domain, value, risk, reversibility, time, and owner.

Verify
What has to be true before it counts as done.
An independent check before work counts as done
Greenhouse
Outside what an ATS is for — a stage advances when a person advances it.
Brainis
Independent quality agents check each deliverable against its acceptance criteria — and can reject it.
C-025See Verify →
Who grades the work
Greenhouse
Outside what an ATS is for — a stage advances when a person advances it.
Brainis
Never the agent that produced it. High-risk work is checked by a different model family.

Greenhouse
Outside what an ATS is for — a stage advances when a person advances it.
Brainis
Acceptance criteria you write become Verify checks — authored once, composed into libraries, enforced per domain.

Scorecards review the candidate. Reviewing an agent's deliverable against acceptance criteria is a different mechanism.

06Coexistence & migration
Running both is the expected path, not a failure.
- Connector depth today
- There is no Greenhouse connector in the live catalog today. The connectors that exist are communication, calendar and email, data warehouses, and AI providers.See Integrations →
- What imports
- Candidates and contacts come across by CSV with field mapping through the product's candidate importer. Interview kits, scorecard templates, and structured-interview configuration do not transfer.
- What stays in Greenhouse
- If Greenhouse is running structured hiring well, the honest recommendation is to keep it and let Brainis own the decision layer above it.
- Leaving whenever you want
- Export through the admin data wizard whenever you want, and running out of AI credits never locks your data or your non-AI workflows.C-032See Pricing →
07Pricing
What each of you is charging for.
Greenhouse is quote-based, typically scaled to company size with annual contracts — you will need a conversation to get a number. Brainis publishes its matrix: plans set a seat band, connectors, concurrency, and an autonomy ceiling, AI credits pay for the agent work, and every credit-consuming action shows its cost before it runs. Seats above the band are charged per seat. Published pricing is easier to compare, but this is not the same product: if you need best-in-class hiring craft, price is not the axis the decision turns on.
Brainis is free to start, paid plans from $29 a month. See Pricing →
