Where the days go
Break your time to hire into segments: application to first review, review to first interview, between interview stages, final interview to decision, decision to offer, offer to acceptance.
Almost every team discovers the same shape: the interviews themselves are a small fraction, and the gaps between them dominate. Nobody is deliberating for eleven days; the meeting could not be scheduled.
The four internal delays
Scheduling. The largest and most fixable. Scheduling links with calendar connection remove days per stage, immediately, with no process change.
Review latency. Applications sitting unreviewed because nobody owns the queue. Assign an owner per requisition and a review commitment, and let stall detection flag breaches.

Important: Speed gained by skipping structure is not a win. A fast bad hire costs more than a slow good one, and the fixes above are all queue removal rather than diligence removal.

- ›Offer acceptance rate. If speed improves and acceptance falls, you have compressed something that needed time.
- ›Quality of hire at six months, so you know that faster did not mean worse.
The candidate side
Speed is also a candidate experience feature. Strong candidates are usually in multiple processes, and the company that moves decisively often wins on that alone. Silence between stages is the most common complaint in candidate feedback, and it is entirely self-inflicted.
